Arlo is a ton of fun and by that, we mean 58 pounds of hairy BFF! He thrives on attention so be prepared for a stage 47 clinger! If you want to go to the other room, Arlo will join you. If you need something that is two feet away, he will keep you company on your 24-inch adventure. This young man is a whole lot of fun in a sizeable package, he just needs some structure and guidance to be the best dog ever!
If Arlo was a human, he would make an amazing activity director on a cruise ship. #GoodVibesOnly #KidInDogBody He has done fine around every stranger he has ever met and is super playful with them! Upon first meeting be prepared to be searched by his super sniffer as he thinks everyone has treats on them somewhere. We are unsure how he would be around cats since he has not had too many chances to be exposed to them during his foster time, but for other dogs, he puts his best foot forward as he just wants to play! During his vets office visit, he was a little exuberant, but we are sure it was due to everything being new to him and he just wanted to show everyone how excited he was to be there! #MrWigglePants
Arlo is very curious about loud noises and usually will go check out what the commotion was all about. On car rides, he typically just sleeps and shows zero signs of getting motion sickness. His favorite thing to do is run, so if you are looking for a running partner, this is the guy for you! His foster has noted that he is super interested in horses, so he has been kept on a leash for those meetings. Also, he seems super interested in bunnies and squirrels as well, so might have some prey drive in that childlike body of his. He is still working on his house manners so will need clear boundaries and structure. During his time in foster, he has mastered the Sit, No, Stay, and Shake (paw) commands and is still working on the Down, Drop It/Leave It, and Heel commands.
If afforded the opportunity to #Cowabunga up onto the countertop Arlo would install himself up there promptly to help you finish off your steak dinner. He has been noted to sniff through the trash as well, but only looking for something to curb his appetite between meals. During Arlos training sessions he thrives on positive reinforcement and praise is his biggest reward and does not seem to care about much else going on as long as his person thinks he is the best boy in the whole world!
Arlo is looking for a forever home, and family, and he hopes that home has another playful dog! Overall, for a Malinois, he is pretty mellow by breed standard, but no small animals for this guy due to is high prey drive. He would love to sleep in your bed if you would be so inclined to allow him, and loves mid-day snuggles too! With his love to run and jump, he might have some sportiness in him for activities such as agility and scent work/barn hunt as well! So, if you are looking to fill the 58-pound void in your life, look no further than Arlo!
