Meet April

Hello my name is April. I am roughly 6 years old. I am about 66 pounds. I came to Minnesota from North Dakota, in April 2022 with my 5 4 week old babies.

I have had a rough start to life. I was found as a stray, taken in by a wonderful rescue in ND before being moved to Minnesota in hopes of finding a Furever home for me and my babies.

I was adopted in 2022 but due to changes in living arrangements I was returned to Last Hope. My adoptive mom had my DNA tested, I am 49% Alaskan Malamute, 15% German Shepherd, 12% Chow Chow, 10% Golden retriever, 6% Siberian Husky.

I am very sweet and affectionate, I get along great with other dogs and cats. I am still a cautious girl, I don’t like hardwood floors. My adoptive home had a doggy door in it, but I don’t like to go out that way but I will come in that way.

I need patience and understanding. I love being pet and brushed, but I hate bathes tremendously right now. The running water scares me greatly.

I love treats, and being outside. I am fairly laid back and low energy. Although as I get more comfortable I am starting to like to play a little.

I would do best in a quiet house hold. Quick loud movements and noises startle me. I love quiet cool nights, hanging out on the deck with my previous foster mom and the other pups in the house. I like to roll in the cool grass. I have a heavy coat and get warm quickly, so the cool nights or winter temps don't bother me.

If you are interested in meeting me and potential adopting me please contact Kelsey at Kblazer03@hotmail.com.

My adoption fee is $350 (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am - 2 pm at Lakeville PetSmart (located by Hy-Vee just off 160th & Pilot Knob).

Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.

The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!

CAN YOU FOSTER? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office @ mail@last-hope.org and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you! You can also apply to be a foster home on our webpage! In the upper left hand corner there’s a drop down tab with the link for canine foster home. Just fill it out online & submit! We will get back to you as quick as we can.
