Meet Anya
Hi, my name is Anya! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Affectionate, adventurous
-Can Live with Kids: Yes, Anya has lived with kids in the past and should be fine with respectful kids aged around 8 years and up.
-Can Live with Cats: No thanks, she has a prey drive and enjoys chasing cats.
-Can Live with Dogs: Possibly! There is a note from her previous owner stating that she fought over food and toys with the last dog in her home but otherwise got along fine. She seems to prefer male dogs who are more laid back. Introductions would be scheduled to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can do Apartment Living: May be okay with plenty of daily physical exercise and mental stimulation. A larger home with room to roam around would be preferred however.
-Potty Trained: Seems to be!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, she is required to be signed up for one private lesson.
-Energy Level: Mod-high
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Just a microchip!
-Additional Information: Anya is a loving dog who is looking for her forever family. She ended up at the shelter under no fault of her own and is understandably a little confused about her situation. It may take her a bit to settle into a new home but once she's had some time she'll be sure to show you what a great dog she is. Anya knows a few tricks already like sit, shake, wait, lie down, and stay, but could stand to work on some leash skills as she's a bit of a puller. For her new home she would prefer if she didn't have to be left alone for too long during the day since she really enjoys being around her people. She would also need to go to a home that does not have any small animals or cats since she has a high prey drive. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
