Meet Amos

AMOS
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
DOB: 07/30/21

When we first met Amos, he was in terrible shape. We could tell he had something neurological going on, head tilt, seemed to be blind, weak and he was skin and bones.

If that was what needed to be done, DITR wanted Amos to at least be clean (free of matts and fleas), comfortable, pain free and LOVED on for a few days before considering euthanasia. After a thorough examination, Dr. Wilder at Berkeley Vet Clinic determined that he has a neurological issue that makes him shake sometimes, but overall, he is a healthy dog.

In his DITR foster home Amos has started coming to life! Sure, he shakes if he is trying hard to do something new or if he gets anxious, but he is a normal dog in his head. He plays and loves to be cuddled.

He can now trot around the yard in a straight line. He's gaining weight. Amos barks with the other dogs and has even tries to play with Evie – his foster fur-friend. Amos is up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped and being maintained on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

Amos is a special needs little guy. He is blind but does fairly well getting around. He needs an adopter preferably with a ranch style house or he will have to be carried up and down stairs and precautions made so he is safe to walk around freely.

His adopter must be someone who loves a lap baby. That's what he likes best.

This dog is currently being fostered as part of Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue. An application is required, along with a home visit and small adoption fee.
