Amber is estimated to be around 14 months old and is only 41 lbs.

Look at this precious pup! How could you not fall in love with her little face and her blue and brown eyes? Amber has been in her foster home since 1/27/24 and enjoys cuddling on her dog bed with her brother Colby. This petite girl is learning how to be a pet, since she was previously left out in a backyard with her siblings. Amber was rescued from Hall County Animal Control on her “euthanasia date” along with her brother Colby. So many volunteers worked hard to save her at You Lucky Dog Rescue and Hall County Animal Shelter Volunteers.

Amber is a shy girl who feels the most confident when her brother Colby is by her side. She does well on walks by herself, but she needs work with her leash skills—going for walks seems brand new to her. She is happiest when chewing on hard NylaBones on a dog bed next to Colby. She loves to sniff her foster family’s hands before giving gentle pup kisses and then stepping closer for gentle pets. Her foster family believes she was not socialized much with people before she found her way to Hall County Animal Control. She desperately wants to trust humans and will warm up to her foster family pretty quickly on a dog bed next to them. She will wag her tail, flash her cute smile, and settle.

She lives in a foster home that includes her foster mom and dad, college-aged human brother and sister, 4 dogs (males and females), and 2 cats. Amber interacts with all of our dogs while on a leash and does not have free-roam of the house. She has not yet been introduced to the cats.

Amber is crate-trained and does not have accidents in the house or crate. She settles easily in her crate or on a dog bed. She does not have a blanket in the crate because she will chew or shred it. She understands the toileting routine of our other dogs and sleeps either in her crate at night and when her foster parents leave the house. Amber is not food aggressive and does not resource guard - she will allow you to take food or toys/bones away from her. She prefers to eat her meals in her crate. It has taken several weeks to see Amber show interest in toys; she often acted like she didn’t know what to do with them and would just sit next to them. She is not food motivated because she is still so shy. She will wait until she is left alone to eat her meals or eat treats left for her.

Amber is gaining her confidence in her foster family’s home, but she often seems confused when people want to pet her and keep her near them. She would do best in a home where patience, love, and praise are the daily routine. She doesn’t know any basic obedience yet because no one has ever bothered to show her the way. Amber is young and impressionable and will blossom with a family who gives her the attention she deserves. Amber can’t wait for her forever family, so she doesn’t have to share all the attention with other pups in her foster home. Will you be the one to cherish her?

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
