Alex Poodle & Maltese Mix Mission, BC

This handsome lad is Alex! Alex has had a tough life, being pulled from a high kill shelter in California. He was adopted quickly here but found his new life to be overwhelming. He did bite his new adoptive mom which is how he came to us. When he arrived Alex was a basketcase of stress and anxiety, so we just backed off and allowed him to be Alex. He has calmed down amazingly and is such a sweet soul. Alex can be around other dogs but is a bit of a bully and gets easily wound up when they are playing, which is why a home without other animals is best. He just wants to be with his person, and would love someone who is calm and patient and wants a companion. He needs someone who understands his past and that, when faced with high stress events, he may resort to aggression. Since understanding this, we simply keep him away from such situations. Or, if that is not possible (say vet visits) we muzzle him beforehand and he is fine. We have started him on anti anxiety medication to help as well. Alex is not housebroken and would need someone willing to help him learn. If you think you could give this boy the stable and loving home he so desperately wants, please contact us.
