Akira is estimated to be a 2-3 year old Corgi mix who was found as a stray and never claimed. She weighs 31 pounds. Akira has not been tested with cats and she is currently not fostered with small children.
Akira is a sweet girl who very much wants to be with her people. She has a degree of separation anxiety if she can't be with you, she will pant and drool a bit. She can be crated in a sturdy plastic crate, but doesn't appreciate the crate and will make noise.
Akira needs a family that has someone around most of the time (even when it's not Covid-19 pandemic that has many people working from home.) She's a super sweet girl who loves to lay by you and be pet. She is friendly with people and good with other dogs. When she is eating, she can be protective of her bowl around other dogs if they try to eat out of it at the same time. She will do best fed in a kennel or fed separate from other dogs. She is shy about solid wood steps and a little hesitant about using them.
She will need a family willing to give her a refresher on house training with moving to a new house and a new routine.
Adoption fee is $400.00 + tax (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home.
Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
