Looking for a fun pup to train and grow with? Energetic and feisty, Akima will make a great active companion or possible sports prospect!

Possessing a decent amount of energy and drive, Akima will benefit from an adopter who wants more than just a chill companion. She is a bit independent and will find her own fun, but will come flying in when it's time to work. That's not an idiom, she will literally launch herself at you full speed and expect you to keep her safe. Self preservation is not her strong suit. We've been working on some basic training skills and lots of play; she's a super fun kid! As a puppy she will need continued work, and given her personality a home willing to set some rules and boundaries will be very beneficial for her.

Akima has been adapting very well to all the new dogs, people, sights, and sounds here in foster. She's done well around kids, and may be fine around cats with a little guidance (adopters with cats will need to be close enough for a home visit). She can be a bit unsure about new people initially, but after a second to warm up she loves attention and is eager to play! Akima plays well with receptive adult dogs and is learning to coexist without pestering, and is a work in progress with puppies/small dogs since she can be a bit much for them at times. An adopter able to continue providing structure during play and interactions with any other dogs in her life will set her up for the most success as an adult.

Akima was surrendered to a shelter with three littermates; mom was reportedly an ACD, but with neither parent around it's hard to determine what mix she may be. I'd guess predominantly ACD and APBT. Currently about 20lbs and 15wks old (as of 12/10/23), we estimate she'll be around 45-50lbs as an adult. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives, and is being adopted out on a spay contract to allow her puppy body and mind more time to develop. She is crate trained and is working on house training.
