Meet Adrian

Adrian is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

Adrian is a pretty girl who came to us from one of our rescue partners in Nebraska in November of 2021, along with two of her siblings (you can see her puppy pictures as you scroll!). We found her to be the "independent" of the 3 siblings. Adrian liked to play in playgroups with the other dogs for a few minutes, then would happily carry a toy under a tree and gently chew on it while the other dogs wrestled. She loves to snuggle, with her people and her siblings. Adrian was adopted into her first foster home, and returned to us this past winter when their circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for her. Her former owner wanted to be sure people know this about Adrian: " She really is the best pup ever with the biggest heart all she needs is a little patience and lots of loving and she will be the perfect addition to anyone's family, and she's amazing with kids also."

Adrian also needed a hip surgery due to an old injury that had healed wrong, that her previous owners could not provide. Adrian received her surgery in February from the skilled orthopedic surgeons at Veterinary Specialty Center and recovered in her loving foster home.

Her foster parents rave about Adrian's good manners in their home: she is totally housebroken and always lets them know when she needs to go out. Adrian is crate-trained and does best in her crate when left alone during the day, but is left out all night and when they are home. Adrian does like other dogs and has no issues with them but she can be reactive to seeing dogs on leash and may bark and pull out of excitement. She can also be nervous with new people and may bark, but Adrian *does not have a single mean bone in her body*-- she is more just afraid at first. Adrian's fosters entertain often and have had a lot of practice introducing her to guests and it's gone really well! Some people may like a dog that barks at first, and then warms up easily!

Adrian lived in a home with many kids and other pets and did great; she was just not well-socialized outside of that circle. When her fosters hand her leash off to someone new, Adrian does fine. Her barking at strangers seems to be a bit of protective alerting to her people. Some people do like having a watch dog, and she will be that!

Adrian's fosters sum her up this way: "Adrian is an extremely smart and sweet dog. She loves to play and has amazing ball catching skills. She is very eager to please and obedient in the house. If you tell her to go to her kennel or to lay down she does. Does well with strangers once she has been given a chance to get to know them."

Adrian's adoption fee is sponsored. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
