Hello, my name is ADEL HEART. You Lucky Dog Rescue found me in a shelter just as I had given birth to a litter of adorable puppies. They rescued me and my babies very quickly, and I’m so grateful. I was a very good mama to them all the way through weaning in a foster home equipped to handle all of us. When they were ready, they each went to new foster families of their own, and I went to mine. My foster family, who I’ve lived with for about a month now, has 2 kids and another canine, and I love all of them!

I use my good looks, and especially my big brown eyes, very expressively and can often get my foster family to do what I want just by batting my eyes at them. If that doesn’t work, I’ll very gently put my paw or head on their lap to let them know I want to be pet and scratched. My foster dad says I always know the right time during his conference calls to do this. I am very loving and hanging with my family is my favorite thing to do. I also really enjoy reading in bed with dad or my brothers as long as they keep a hand free to scratch me.

I’m also a pretty young dog so I do have a mild-moderate energy level. When I’m not getting pet, I have tons of fun romping around and playing. Running in the yard, playing fetch, and tug are all enjoyable and because I’m so gentle, I’m great around babies and toddlers. I don’t jump on people, even little ones, and if I mouth them, it’s never with my teeth. It’s just my way of letting you know that it’s time to play. And once I’m done playing, I’m perfectly content to go back to cuddling. Most amusing to my foster family, is that if you start to howl while I’m really riled up, I’ll sing along too!

I am a very curious dog and will often poke my nose into things just so I can understand what’s happening. Being young, I still occasionally chew on things, but I am a good listener and will try to do what I’m told. I just don’t know all the rules yet, but my foster family says I’m a quick learner and really want to please.

I am housebroken, and crate trained. I am getting pretty good at “Sit,” and am just starting to pick up the idea of “Stay.” I am highly motivated by both treats and affection. I also have shown no fear of thunder (unlike my foster-brother who is afraid). I haven’t shown any propensity to dig. While I can sometimes be a little shy at first, I’m not skittish, and I warm up very quickly to everyone. My favorite place to lay down is this fuzzy dog bed that came with me to my foster home. Put it at the bottom of your bed and I’ll sleep there at night, and bring it into your home office, and I’ll lay there as long as you need to work.

By and large I’m not an overly vocal lady and have never shown anyone a growl. I will occasionally bark softly when I want you to pay attention to me. My canine foster brother is trying to teach me to bark when folks come to the door and sing along with the sirens when they are near our house but I am not sure that it’s what a pretty young lady like me should do. I will whine a bit when I want to go potty, or when I think my family is doing something in which I should be included. Usually all it takes is me walking up to them and laying my head on their knee to let them know they left me out and should scratch my chin and apologize.

I am a good eater and I am respectful of other dogs when they eat. I have no food aggression and don’t try to push them away from their food or their meal. I am not fond of broccoli, brussel sprouts, raw salad, or most veggies for that matter. To the amusement of my foster brothers both canine and human, this often means if you toss me some food I’ll actually eat around the veggies.

Overall, I’m pretty laid back and friendly, and get along great with everyone as you can tell by my wagging tail. Whether you’re a human grown-up, human kid, or another dog, I know we’ll all be buddies and have a good time. I am very much looking forward to meeting my Fur-Ever family so I can share my love and enthusiasm with them. Whether as an only dog in the house, or as one of a few, I’ll do great.

I haven't been around cats.

We believe ADEL HEART to be a Plott Hound mix. Her estimated DOB is 8/12/2019, and she weighs 57 pounds as of 2/22/21.

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
