Wilbur was a stray in Waverly, Iowa. Some kind people in SE Waverly have been feeding and caring for many stray cats over the years. Waverly Pet Rescue has been taking them in since February 2017. Wilbur is the 38th one we took in. So Wilbur is now a WPR cat. He is now up to date on shots, and neutered. And he also tested negative for FeLV / FIV.
Wilbur is about 3-1/2-months old as of October 24th, 2017. Wilbur became a WPR kitten when he was just two weeks old along with his sister Fern and Mama Charlotte. Her mama did an amazing job raising him and she was quick to go to him whenever he yowled. He's always been a big boy and is still quite the talker, especially when he is hungry. He loves to be picked up and loved on, then climb to your shoulders and around your neck, stop to play with hair, and then it's off to play, play, play. He is just a very busy kitten full of energy. He has done fine with other cats, but hasn't been exposed to dogs. We would love to see Fern get adopted into the same home as her brother, mother, or even all 3 stay together. (6/12/18 updated, Fern has already been adopted)
6/13/18 UPDATE: Wilbur is almost a year old (birthday is July 10) and he's always had a buddy. So he's used to one and searches for a buddy. He's a higher maintenance, attention wise, when he's an only cat. Especially at night when people are sleeping, he wants attention. Or if he's hungry, which is often, he'll be whining about it. He absolutely CANNOT be a free feeding cat! He is the kind of cat that will not stop eating and gets very runny poop when he gets too much food. Personality wise he is easy going, but still very much a kitten on the go and demands a lot of attention in form of play and exercise. He's very sweet and gives lots of kisses and is fine being picked up, but squirmy because he wants to go, go, go.
It is required he either gets adopted along with another playful kitty, or you already have a cat in your home he can become friends with.
He is the sweetest kitty ever and deserves the best home.
6/20/18 UPDATE: Wilbur has been missing his sister, so his foster family has been socializing him with other cats. He is doing so well! He’s is not afraid or intimidated by anybody and tries to make friends even when he encounters a grouchy hiss. He curious and explorative and all around pretty chill and generally unfazed by change. He’s been introduced to his foster’s dog and has no issues with her. He would be a wonderful addition to any loving family!
9/24/18 UPDATE: Wilbur has done well being integrated with his foster family's home cats ever since his sister was adopted. He has done well with other cats, loves to play and just wants to be everyone's friend. However he is a kind of in your face and persistent trying to make friends and some of the older cats do not appreciate his approach. He has become really good friends with his foster family's dog. He often lays with her on the floor or shares and eventually takes over her bed. He loves her toys and finds playing with her tail very entertaining. He's a great cat and loves to rub his face on your nose and give you kisses. He comes around for love, but never stays long for he's always on the move.
He's very talkative around food time and loves his hard food, but recently he has had an allergic reaction and some bowel irritation to some of his food or some other food he found that was fed to his foster family's cat. He has been to the vet to make sure the issues weren't caused by other factors and all tests came back good. It is unsure what exactly his allergy is, but his future family will need to be careful what food they feed him. Right now the vet has him on prescription Royal Canin food, but his foster family will be trying him out on a different limited ingredient food when the other runs out.
Will someone please adopt Wilbur and give him a forever home? $95 adoption fee.

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
