Waggles Domestic Short Hair Wells, ME

Waggles is an incredibly brave cat who was rescued by Safe Haven after suffering a severe injury to his back leg, having literally ripped 4” of fur and skin away trying to escape neighborhood dogs. He also arrived with all of the pads on the paw of the same leg with deep slices. We imagine him trying to get through a metal fence of some kind but will never know for sure. With excellent veterinary care and the daily medications administered by his caring team of volunteers, Waggles is now almost fully recovered. He still favors the leg but is growing stronger every day.

Waggles is a 4 year Tuxedo male. He is lovely and affectionate and is gradually trusting us to pick him up and hold him. But only for brief hugs right now. He loves playing with the laser light and wand toys and comes to you as soon as you call him. He is such a dear boy. He just needs the right home and people to reassure him his days of being frightened, are over.

Waggles would not do well in a home with very young children who couldn’t fully understand his injuries or how fearful he would be if chased. He would welcome the love and affection of older children though. And he cannot go to a home where there is a dog since dogs were the source of his trauma. He is comfortable with his cat companions in our common room but his first love, is his human companions. He would do best as the only pet in the home where he could be the only focus of your love and affection.

We do not anticipate any lasting impact from his injuries. And he is a healthy boy ready for a loving home where he can thrive and grow day by day in his trust and self-assurance.
