Meet Vinny Van Gough (aka Vinny)

Vinny Van Gough (aka Vinny) is a two-year-old social butterfly looking for his forever home!

Vinny is a super-confident kitty who loves to be all up in your business throughout the day. He is a chatty boy, talking to you with his sweet hum trills whenever you look his way. This cute guy will greet his people at the door, demanding to know where you have been.

His favorite thing to do is whatever you are doing, whether that’s cuddling on the couch with you while you’re working or watching TV, hanging out with you in the bathroom while you get ready, or up on the counters trying to help you cook dinner. We don’t know what Vinny’s life looked like before hitting the streets, but we like to think he painted a lot in an attic studio, he certainly has the thumbs to hold a brush! Vinny also has one “floppy” ear likely from a previous ear mite infection which doesn’t cause him any problems anymore; it just looks so darn cute.

This handsome fellow enjoys watching birds out the window and talking to them. He loves sitting atop his cat tree looking over everyone and using horizontal scratching boards. It might take a bit of enticing to get Vinny to play with toys, but once he is in the mood he goes all out, he has been seen jumping four feet in the air after his wand toy.

This good boy uses his litter box perfectly and is even learning to walk in a harness. He is more of a grazer when it comes to his daily meals, and he eats both dry and wet food--but what he is PASSIONATE about is his cat treats; he will do anything to get to those bad boys and has been caught breaking into the foster family’s storage bin to sneak some more. It’s important that Vinny’s future home has a secure storage area for both their food and Vinny’s food/treats.

Vinny is quiet and sleeps on his own at night right now, but is so excited to talk to you and hang out when his people wake up. He grazes on his breakfast and dinner throughout the day and relaxes when his people are away. When his foster parents are home, he follows them around and is so excited to interact. Vinny’s future home should know that Vinny likes a lot of interaction during the day and providing him with mentally stimulating outlets like toys, puzzle feeders, lots of pets and brushing is a must.

Vinny currently lives with 2 adults in a 1-bedroom apartment with no other animals and has done well, but we think he would appreciate more space to explore and more people or furry siblings to hang out with to keep him company. He has been a social butterfly when his fosters have had guests over.

Vinny’s ideal home would be one with a lot of human interaction whether that be with a single adult or couple who work from home or are retired, or an active family with lots of humans to love on him.

He has not had experience with dogs or cats in foster care, but his fosters think he would love to have a mellow dog friend and possibly a cat friend (with more caution) if slow introductions were able to be performed. Families with younger children may need to use caution with Vinny as he can sometimes use his mouth or claws when he gets excited to play, but he is easily redirected with a toy.

We have no medical concerns for Vinny currently. Adopters who are not fans of cats on counters may need to look elsewhere or be willing to put in some positive reinforcement training to prevent his counter surfing (he is very treat-motivated so he would likely be trainable!).

If you’re ready for a fun, affectionate, loving work of art, and are around a lot to give and receive attention, please consider adding the masterful Vinny Van Gough to your family!

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped.
