MY STORY:
This guy set up his headquarters in the dumpsters behind an apartment building while trying to keep himself alive. He was very friendly with all the people that came and went in the apartments but seemed relieved when a kind soul took it upon herself to capture him and get him to us as the first step in his journey to a new life.

Given the name Rupert, it took him a few weeks to settle into the shelter (it may have been the first time he had had an inside place to call home). Each day that went by gave him a new sense of confidence and loves soaking up the attention from the workers and volunteers. He seems to do ok with other kitties that respect his space and although we haven't seen him play with toys yet (probably had never had them before) he loves to chase a ball down our long hallway. Rupert can be a bit shy at first but all it takes is looking at him and giving him some compliments and he will come right to you! He'll also lay in your lap and look at you like "hello, why are you not petting me yet??" He can be somewhat unpredictable and will do best with experienced cat people that will allow him the time for him to trust them and can read his cues. We would recommend a home that does not include young children that may not mesh well with his unpredictable nature. Rupert is quite a looker with his jet black coat (that he LOVES to have brushed) and light golden green eyes.

Inside-only home and must keep claws. The adoption fee for this kitty is $100. Adopt a pair of kitties for $150. Each cat and kitten has been: altered (spayed/neutered), vaccinated (age-appropriate) - rabies and distemper combo, microchipped, tested for FeLV (negative unless previously noted), and treated for fleas, ear mites, and worms.
