Meet Mog (FeLV positive)

Mog is a handsome, confident, loving, silly dude. He lives life to the fullest and throws his whole self into whatever his current activity is--be it playing, eating, snuggling, birdwatching or sleeping! He warms up quickly to new people and new spaces and will bring his home and his forever humans endless laughter and happiness.

Mog loves to PLAY! It's hard to get good pictures of him because he is at his cutest when he's active! Whether it's a laser pointer that gets him zooming around, a rope toy or string that he can attack from behind a door, or a kicker toy for him to go to town on, he's into it. He will happily play by himself but really loves to interact with his humans. This handsome seal point dude sleeps soundly in his carrier or a bolster bed during normal business hours, so would be a great companion for someone working from home!

Mog is up, purring, and ready for breakfast around 7am. After chowing down, he'll let you know he's ready for playtime with an adorable buzzy meow-- surprisingly delicate for his bulk! When you're ready, he likes to burn off his breakfast with his rope toy or kicker, jump up on the couch for pets, and chase his laser pointer in and out of paper bags. His Parkour time will tire him out-- afterwards, he'll happily curl up for a long nap on a favorite bed, blanket, or behind a warm computer monitor. He sleeps as hard as he plays, getting up only occasionally for a drink or a quick kibble snack before curling up again for more zzzs. In the late afternoon, he's happy for more time playing, flopping around for a belly rub, or looking out the window before dinner.

Mog has feline leukemia, and will for his whole life. Although he currently doesn't require much special care and behaves like a run of the mill cat, he may need medications or other care later in his life. His owner would need to be prepared to establish a good working relationship with a vet and take him in promptly if any symptoms develop.

FeLV is not contagious to humans or dogs but can be transferred to other cats. Annual vet visits, regular immunizations, and your love will help Mog maintain a normal, healthy, and happy life. You can read more about FeLV here: https://tinyurl.com/ycxhwcmu. Luckily, Mog is easy-going and his love for food and people means getting him to take meds orally is a piece of cake

Mog is currently living in a house with two adults (one who works from home) and another FeLV cat that he's getting to know. He's also lived in an apartment and honestly would be happy in any spot where he's got windows to look out of and a person (or several!) to socialize with!

This sweet big boy is a high-energy, excited cat! He is interested in getting to know other cats, but his size and energy can be intimidating. He comes on strong and is ready to chase, wrestle and play in a way that can be a bit much for a calmer feline friend. Given his FeLV status, Mog would be happiest as either a single cat or with a confident and cat-savvy FeLV buddy after slow introductions. He has met a toddler and was well-behaved and respectful, so likely would be fine with children if they were also respectful and playful!

Mog is an incredibly sweet, goofy and friendly cat. He would love to be in a home where he gets attention and interaction from his humans, particularly in the mornings and evenings. He will reward you with purrs, flops, hilarious antics, and an awesome and unique buzzy meow!

Mog is currently on a 'sensitive stomach' dry food but has had no bathroom issues in his foster home. He is recovering from pancreatitis after a rough start to life and some medical work when he was taken into rescue; he takes a prednisone tablet in his wet food, but that is unlikely to be a specific long-term need. He pees frequently, so would do best with a large-size litterbox.

Mog really is a sweetheart--handsome and silly and respectful and confident. He will thrive in his own home and give so much back to his humans!
