Meet Missy

Missy is a lovely gray tabby with white "teen" kitten, around 11 months old. She arrived on February 13 via owner surrender through no fault of her own. We are not certain what Missy's life has been like so far, but for a young cat she appears to have been through a lot, both physically and emotionally. You will notice her left eye appears to have been injured at some point. This has been diagnosed as an anterior synechiae, which is an adhesion between the iris and the cornea. This does not require treatment and does not seem to bother Missy, but it is permanent.

Since arrival at SCAC, Missy has been apprehensive of human contact. Volunteers have been giving her loads of TLC, and she has improved, but Missy is not the kind of cat who will have an immediate bond with her new family. A successful adoption will require patience, understanding, and acceptance that the relationship will slowly develop over time. The ideal home for Missy is one that recognizes her past trauma and doesn't try to push past her comfort level. She will be happiest if she has a quiet room to start off with, spending quality one-on-one time with you while she gets her bearings in a small space. She will let you know when she is comfortable enough to explore and venture out of her safe space. Your patience will pay off because once you earn her trust, Missy will sweetly snuggle into you and show you her secret biscuit making skills.

We are not certain how Missy feels about other cats, but she might do better as an only pet. Her previous owner stated that she is good with kids, but our recommendation would be no small children. Missy will go home with you spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated appropriate to age (for only $25 during the current SCAC Adoption Special!). She is negative for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV).

The SCAC Adoption Application is available in a fillable PDF and can be downloaded at www.meowmobile.org. The completed application can be faxed or emailed to the number/address provided on the form, or you can bring it with you to SCAC. No appointment is necessary. We hope to see you soon!
