Meet Melda! Melda was born about September of 2017 and came to us one night at midnight from Ceres in very bad shape. She was dehydrated and thin and also suffering from pyometra after giving birth to one kitten. We accepted her at midnight and did a brief intake on her. The following day she was sent to surgery for an emergency spay to remove the infected uterus before it killed her. This is a good example of just another reason why spaying your pets is important. Spayed cats and dogs will not suffer from
Pyometra.

Melda is estimated to be born September 2017 and is FIV positive. She is a sweet girl and has a quirky personality. Having FIV will set her back and take her much longer to find a home. Not because she is sick, because she is not... but because people misunderstand this common feline disease. If you are concerned about her FIV status please, before you make a decision and rule her out, take a few minutes to do some research and see that FIV cats can live LONG NORMAL LIVES. Melda deserves a second chance to be loved and safe. She loves wet food in the evenings and attention but can also get overstimulated from being pet too much. We just let her get her love on as long as she wants and let her walk away when she’s satisfied. Melda’s fur is a beautiful sleek jet black, however on her face you can see some brown as well in the light. She is tough to get picture of cause she moves so much. We have no doubt Melda will be an awesome pet for the right home. She is looking for one home to last her entire life and will become a lap cat in no time! All Second Chance Kitty cats are free fed a quality dry food with low or no grain and are STRICTLY INDOOR ONLY. Studies have proven cats live longer, healthier lives and on average require less financial burdens at veterinary offices when they are kept indoor only. There are so many predators out there, both human and animal and it is sadly unsafe to let them roam unattended.

All of our babes come altered, microchipped, vaccinated, rabies (if age appropriate), FeLV/FIV negative unless stated otherwise , dewormed, flea treated, litter box trained and full of love. Our adoption fees are a minimum $150 donation. Anything beyond $150 helps rescue another babe.

Adoption isn't an impulsive decision, it must be thought out carefully. Owning a cat is a 15 to 20+ year commitment. Can we afford a cat? If we're renting do they allow pets here? Is there a pet deposit? Can we afford the pet deposit? What if we get sick, what if the kitty becomes ill and has to see a veterinarian?
