Meet Loretta

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Loretta's Story... A Last Hope Animal Rescue volunteer
was surprised to see a large carrier sitting out in the back parking
lot when she arrived at our Adoption Center one morning in late
October 2023. It was during some of the unusual hot weather we'd
been having when she arrived to volunteer and wondered why
someone who have left it there. If it was one being returned, why
wouldn't they have brought it during the day when someone could
have taken it inside so it wasn't stolen? As she approached, she
noticed it didn't have our name or info on the carrier - and then she
had the shock of her life! To her horror, she saw a Mama cat and a
whole lot of kittens all smooshed together in a carrier not nearly big
enough to hold them all! WHOA! She hurried up and got them
inside and thankfully it wasn't long before other volunteers were
arriving to care for the animals, and they all immediately started
getting mama out and assessing the health of all the kittens...
EIGHT of them... yes... 8 kittens!!

They guesstimated the kittens were about 4-5 weeks on intake and
it appeared they were quite hungry so our team of volunteers got to
work and were able to get everyone settled in so mama could nurse
her babies. Thankfully most of them have been adopted and as of
April 2024, Loretta's age is about 2 years old now - her birthdate on
intake was guesstimated to be mid-late April 2022.
Loretta came in somewhat depleted, which wasn't unusual since she
had such a large litter of kittens to feed and who knows how
often~or even how well ~ she was fed. Once separated from her
kittens after they were weaned, she started eating a lot - almost like
she was afraid she wouldn't know when her next meal would be...
she did put on quite bit of weight, and as of April 2024, she is a
good sized girl at about 13#. Thankfully she has come to realize
food will always be given to her, so she isn't behaving like she's
starving! Her fur coat is absolutely beautiful with darker tabby
markings and tortoiseshell orange/tan coloring filtered
throughout... which is affectionately called a 'Torbie' fur coat.

She is very playful once she gets comfortable with you, and she
purrs easily. She will do better in a home with no kittens, but she
has gotten along with adult cats in her foster home. She likes to run
through a cat tunnel and chase balls and mice, chase after the 'little
red dot', lay in a tall cat tree in front of a big window - way up at the
very top - so she can see the outside world, and she also loves to bat
the balls in a little 3-level round-about tower toy! Since the weather
has gotten warmer, we have taken her outside on a harness and
leash and she LOVES sitting on her foster mom's deck to soak up
the sunshine, too! She loves affection and enjoys laying in her
foster's arms and cuddles like a baby, and will love to sit on your
lap - and she absolutely LOVES to be brushed :) Older kids would
probably be best for her, and when she was out in the Petsmart
Adoption Center, she absolutely hated dogs when they approached
her window - so a home without a dog would be best for her.

Loretta's adoption fee is $85.00, She is completely vetted... she has
been spayed, has had her FVRCP vaccination and her rabies
vaccination, she tested NEG/NEG for both Feline Leukemia and
FIV, has been given a dewormer treatment and Revolution parasite
treatment. She is also microchipped. Her microchip has a free
lifetime registration and LHAR will register her to her new owners
upon adoption. Your responsibility will be to always keep all of
your information updated with the microchip company so you have
a better chance of getting her returned to you should she ever get
outside, etc.
