Meet Lindy Sue, gentlest catnip addict ever. Special Needs

Lindy Sue might be one of the gentlest cats in the world. This laid back four-ish year tripod came to us from an overcrowded shelter when they felt like she was not thriving in the shelter environment. She loves attention!!! It turned out she was not doing well in the shelter due to untreated diabetes too, and has turned a corner since being in a foster home and getting treatment. Please read the entire profile before applying for Lindy Sue!

She would love to be a 24/7 purring lap cat if you would allow this! She likes her catnip toys, but her real joy in life is people- the more the merrier. This very social cat is surprisingly good with other cats, dogs and very likely would be a good choice for someone with respectful kids. Her greatest dream would be to find a home where someone is around a lot. Right now, she is loving football season because it means she has a dedicated lap for 3 straight hours.

Lindy's diabetes will likely be a lifelong issue. She gets insulin injections every 12 hours, and a special canned food diet. Her new owner should be prepared for this. Realistically, while diabetic cats often live normal lifespans, their medical bills can be higher than other cats, and the insulin, needles and testing equipment can cost $100.month. She may need more dental cleanings than other cats. Her adoption fee includes a veterinary consult to discuss her condition. Please read more about diabetes here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951506 So far, she has been an easy diabetic to not only treat, but monitor and control. She purred during her blood draws at the vet!

Lindy's old family got a new dog, and brought the dog into the house without appropriate introductions. The dog grabbed Lindy, and crushed her right front leg. Instead of seeking medical treatment, her old family dropped Lindy off at a shelter. Fortunately, she was able to receive life saving surgery to close the wound. Her leg and shoulder blade were beyond repair so both were amputated in 9-2020. She is still getting used to life with 3 legs, and often props herself against a wall for balance. She will improve with time, but in the meantime, must go to a home who can make litterbox accommodations for a slightly clumsy cat.

Lindy is spayed, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, FeLV/FIV tested negative, and has had her rabies vaccine and the first of two fvrcp vaccines. Her adoption fee is a bargain at $125 for this faithful lovebug.

When Lindy gets adopted, we will remove this profile, so if you still see her here, she is available. Please submit an application at http://nwac-oregon.org/adoption-application/ to ask specific questions or to arrange a socially distant meeting. You may also send an inquiry via petfinder, but we will likely ask you to fill out the application! We do not expect Lindy to be a good fit for all owners, so applicants will be carefully screened. We are committed to finding her the perfect forever home.
