Some people had caught the kittens and were supposed to have the mother spayed by the SPCA and then released. Another well-intentioned person learned that India was going to be put back out on the street and decided to take her under her wing since, despite her fear, India was sociable. She and her kittens deserved good homes. India came to the shelter to receive the care and socialization she needed. At the end of her quarantine, we discovered that India was a carrier of feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
