Meet Dodger

Dodger is a young playful busy bee, with an equal amount of cuddliness and chill, looking for his forever home!

Dodger is a friendly and outgoing kitty that loves pets, playing and attention galore! He loves people, is the first to greet you when you walk into a room and appreciates a good head scratching. In fact, head pets are mandatory, and he’s a professional at pushing his little head into the palm of your hand for a scratch and then rewarding you with the sweetest rumbling purr you’ve ever heard.

When Dodger was found by the shelter, he had a broken lower back, likely caused by a car accident or something falling on him. After a month of crate rest early on, his back has been fully healed for most of his life and this resilient boy has fully adapted to his new normal! He has the most adorable bow-legged walk, and his two back legs work together to hop like a bunny when he runs. But don’t let his funny legs fool you, he is a totally normal young cat that loves to play hard and then nap harder. He scurries around without worry, and can jump, run and chase his favorite toys like any other cat.

Dodger loves interactive toys. He could chase a laser or run after a wand toy for as long as his human is up for playing. He’s still learning that his other toys can be played with independently, but he does enjoy sniffing out the catnip toys to toss and kick around. He also likes to play hide-and-seek in boxes and chase his light up ball around the ball track.

During the day, you can often find Dodger up on the windowsill investigating the birds and watching passersby on their afternoon walk. Dodger doesn’t lack in the appetite department, and enjoys scarfing down his food, especially when wet food is offered. He also enjoys chowing on his favorite treats and getting to nibble on the special cat grass his foster mom grows for him. Dodger has great litter box manners and enjoys scratching on his horizontal cardboard scratching posts.

This handsome guy has a pretty normal energy level for a kitten his age. He’ll never turn down the chance to play but enjoys a good snuggle when his energy has been expended. In fact, the only thing better than playing is a good head scratch. Sit down and Dodger will be the first one to jump up and rub against you. Dodger would enjoy having a fun kiddo to play with or an energetic young cat friend. If you don’t have either but have enough time and energy to play with him, that would be just fine as well!

Dodger currently lives in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom house with his two foster humans, two cats and one dog. As long as his human is ready to spend some time flinging a wand toy and flicking around the laser, Dodger would do great in any size house or apartment. Dodger engages well with his two foster cat siblings. He takes his sniffing and investigating duties seriously at first, and then is quick to engage in rumble and tumble play.

He would enjoy having a younger cat to play with and follow around, but his playing style and energy might not be as fun for an older, more aloof cat. Dodger also lives with a 60-lb dog and is learning to warm up to the freaky giant. He’s never been one to run or hide but is still quite cautious in her presence. They do, however, co-exist peacefully and Dodger initiates closer contact every day. He’s made great progress and is slowly learning that dogs are friends. He would probably do best in a home with a smaller and mostly uninterested dog, or with a family dedicated to slow introductions.

Dodger is a well-rounded, fun-loving, playful and cuddly cat. His lively spirit and infectious energy bring happiness and smiles to everyone that meets him, and his funny little walk is sure to make you melt. His easy-going and adaptable nature would make him a welcome addition to just about any home, and he would thrive just about anywhere with a human who loves him (and loves to play). If you’re looking to add some much-needed adventure and silliness to your life, look no further, Dodger dude is the friend for you!
