The leader of a notorious street cat gang known as the Nine Lives Gangsters is retracting his claws and retiring!
Formerly known as Baby-Faced Bubba, he now identifies himself as Chili, after his city, Chillicothe.

Once quoted meowing, “They’ll never take my claws with me alive!” Chili is now in the foster care of the rescue, Buckeye Pet Partners.

Formerly, Chili existed in back alleys and his 17 pound frame was an ominous sight to the other felines, who kept their distance.

Found with a serious neck wound, Chili was nursed back to health over many months by a caring volunteer.
In that time, Chili has decided that humans are great and he’s giving up his street life to live a quiet existence in a home. So enamored with human love, Chili, only 2 years old, has turned into a big softy, who loves attention and cuddling.

Turning away from his former life of crime, Chili has become a hero and a poster boy at the vet, sitting on the vet’s lap while she writes up notes and plies him with treats.
He's been quoted as meowing, “The streets aren’t for me any more. All I want is some respect, love, and a lap to sit on. Is that too much to ask?"

Chili has one other thing he wants you to know, and that is that he tested positive for FIV. This is a very common thing among cats who live their lives on the streets, and it doesn't mean he isn't adoptable!
He wants you to read about FIV below and to let you know that he is healthy, and is likely to live a long life if he's well cared for! FIV is not contagious to humans, and other cats can not get it from eating or drinking after, or grooming other cats. Chili is living safely with other foster cats right now!

Chili can still be a bit intimidating to other cats, but if he’s around other confident playful cats, he likes to join in the fun! Chili even gets along with the dog in his foster home, although the dog isn’t quite sure this big boy is really a cat!
Chili would need a careful introduction to other pets, as he tends to want to be the boss. (Some things never change.)
Chili should do okay around older children.

Chili is a really nice cat who is waiting for just the right home to spend the rest of his long life in!

All of our cats are completely vetted and litterbox trained. All animals live in a pet and kid friendly foster home before going up for adoption. The health of our animals physically and mentally are our top priority. BPP strives to place animals in great homes efficiently to ensure less stress on the animal.
90 percent of our cats are adopted out within 3 months or less and we have a 1 percent return rate after adoption.

We approve applications within 48 hours and ask finalization in most cases to happen within two days of approval.

FIV:
FIV is an immune system virus, meaning a cat could have a reduced ability to fight infection if they get sick.
Most FIV-infected cats live many years—sometimes their entire lives—without any visible effects from the virus, so an FIV-positive diagnosis is not cause for alarm.
FIV is primarily transmitted through a deep bite wound. Non-aggressive cats pose no danger to other cats. Once neutered, most cats are not aggressive.
The virus does not spread through mutual grooming, sharing food and water bowls, or sharing a litter box. Humans cannot get it.
The virus has a long incubation period, meaning that a cat who tests FIV-positive may live free of FIV-related disease for a lifetime!
