Catherine Domestic Short Hair Mount Juliet, TN

Why, hello, and sorry to disturb you so late. We are older kittens, so we get to stay up later than the others, and do late night posts and all of that fun stuff. Oh, but first off, we are THE ERNEST HEMINGWAY BABIES! We didn't want to brag, but two of us (Santiago and Maria) have extra toes up front! They are polydactyl kittens, also known as "Hemingway Cats", due to Hemingway's love of polydactyl cats. There is even a sanctuary in Florida dedicated to cats like us! So being the avid readers that we are, we each decided to name ourselves after some of the main characters in our favorite Hemingway novels.

Our story is not as brilliant as our namesakes, unfortunately. We were born outside and lived outside our whole lives...under a porch. We had very little human contact, though we longed for it, but there were kind humans who fed us. We began to come to them, but oh so cautiously. We were 5 months old when we came to True Rescue, and now it is 3 weeks later, and we are letting those women touch all over us now! Bring on the petting! Sure, we're still a bit shy, but we know we need you, and we have decided we'll let you into our weird little worlds if you want to come in here. What we're saying is that we're ready. We might be older, but if you look in our eyes, you'll see that we will give all of ourselves to you if you'll just accept us as we are, and give us a bit more time. Except for Catherine. Catherine's good with people...she sold out early, and not even for treats either. She likes to be scratched all over. We told her it was too soon, but she didn't care. Catherine does what Catherine wants. (dramatic sigh) She kind of set up the rest of us too, because they knew that if Catherine was so sweet, that we were too. Even though they were right, we would have liked to have kept up the act just a little longer. Thanks a lot, Catherine!

We are at the True Rescue shelter until we get adopted now. You can come and meet us tomorrow at the Adoption Event taking place between 11-3! Don't get too sucked in by all the young kittens...give us a chance! And two of us, don't forget, have extraordinary front paws with extra toes, known to bring good luck! The other two of us that have normal paws, might not bring you good luck, but we'll bring you good fortune...how's that? Good? We think so. Now get some rest and come see us tomorrow, okay?
