Chatty, Chatty, Chatty B-Berry!!!! His Trills and Talkative nature are sure to keep you asking him "And what else did you see while I was at work?"

Blueberry came to NALA Rescue on a recent intake from Arkansas. We took him under our wings knowing that he had severe inflammatory gum disease. When he arrived, he was not a happy camper. He would pick fights with other cats, he would get mad at humans if we got near his head/face/neck.

Inflammatory Gum Disease happens for a number of reasons- Exposure to a virus at a young age (prior to receiving appropriate vaccines). FIV/FeLV (he was negative). Bad Genes/Bad Luck. As well as old age/poor dental hygiene for years at a time.

We can only assume "Bad Genes/Bad Luck" in Blueberry's case. Mr. B underwent a massive dental procedure to help his dental disease, and we are excited to report that he is a much happier boy now!

Adult cats should have 30 mature teeth, once all of their juvenile teeth have fallen out. Blueberry had 27 teeth when he started his oral health journey with NALA Rescue. Blueberry had already lost 3 teeth on his own. Blueberry had 23 teeth extracted at the Vet. Blueberry has FOUR teeth left, He has all four of his "Canines" or "Fangs". And Oh How Happy and Chatty he is now!!!!

He can easily eat dry kibble, he can play and talk to you until you are both BLUE in the face. This fella is a testament to why NALA Rescue is a Voice for the Voiceless. He was an angry guy, now he is pain free and loves everyone, except certain cats.... he is still picky with which cats he will allow to be his friend.
