Zinny (Zinnia) Parrot Conure Battle Creek , MI

Zinnia is a male, 26 year old Goffin’s Cockatoo who has a history of some aggression. Zinny will need a female caretaker, preferably someone who is willing to work though his issues. For his female caretaker, he’ll bond tightly and want to spend every waking second with you. That said, he’ll vocalize loudly in your absence, and when he feels like he’s competing for attention or when you have people over he can be aggressive to your friends and family.

The right person will have the ability and patience to work through those issues and be willing to think outside the proverbial “box” to solve problems. We believe in safety first always - so if you have someone coming over - having Zinny in his enclosure until you work through some training protocol with them will help.

We’re committed to helping the right person work through the issues - which are not “rare” or “a-typical” of cockatoos. We see this quite a bit, actually. The name of the game is boundaries, giving them plenty of things to do with their energy and thinking about what they’re going to do before they do it to keep your friends and family safe to co-exist with him.

If you’re interested in adopting Zinny, put your application in at www.birdsandbeaks.org/adopt We have an adoption radius of 350 miles of Battle Creek, Michigan but will expand for the right homes.  We never ship birds, and if you’re out side that radius, the contract you sign will require you to bring her back to the rescue at your expense if for any reason it doesn’t work out.

No matter who you adopt from, know that no rescue is shipping birds that is reputable, and that anyone who says they’ll ship you a bird is likely telling you whatever you need to hear to scam you.  Don’t send money over the internet for animals.  Meet in person or not at all. Stay safe!
