Meet Tweetie

Hi, my name is Tweetie! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Undersocialized, but warming up to regular handling. Curious. Pretty singing voice.
-Lifespan: 16 - 25 years
-Can live with kids: Yes, bird-experienced kids ages 12+. Children cannot be primary caregiver.
-Experienced Bird home: Tweetie's ideal placement has previous bird experience or another cockatiel in the home.
-Can live with other Birds: Yes, Cockatiels are social birds and do well in pairs.
-Bite History: No aggression observed, but previous owner reports he can bite if you handle him when he isn't interested in being touched.
-Additional information: Need a nice roomy cage (a minimum of 20 x 20 x 24 inches) with different levels and perches as well as toys, mirrors and cuttlebone to keep their beak trimmed. Will need plenty of cockatiel seed or pellets and a regularly offered variety of species-appropriate fruit and veggies, such as small amounts of apples, cantaloupe, sweet potato, and dark greens. Cockatiels, like most birds, are very social and love to live with a companion. If they are the only one in the cage, they must be handled daily without fail. Cockatiels are capable of whistling intricate tunes, becoming finger trained, and so much more! FUN FACT: Tweetie can whistle the entire theme song to The Andy Griffith Show.
