Our Happy Tails of Adopted Animals!
Our Featured Pet - Pansy!
Pansy is an adult female white cat with beautiful blue eyes - she seems to have the face shape of a Siamese. She is very affectionate and loves people. She is a very laid back cat; she doesn't play with her shelter mates much, but she gets along all the same. She also doesn't seem to mind the dogs in the shelter. She recently gave birth to one kitten on March 16/08. She also adopted three orphan kittens and took care of them as her own. She is a very sweet cat who is waiting for her forever home!

Adopting a Friend
If you are interested in adopting any of our animals please fill out an application. Once your application is received and reviewed you will be contacted by a member of MLDHS for a follow up interview. This process may take a few days so please be patient!
All animals old enough and ready for adoption by the MLDHS will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. If the animal is not old enough for altering, you are to bring it back to the Vet Clinic of OUR CHOICE by the date noted on the Adoption Contract for the procedure. The cost of this procedure to the society is included in the adoption fees.
Vaccinations:
Animals may have already received their first shots and Rabies Vaccination. If they have not received their booster, you are responsible for ensuring that they receive it, along with a rabies immunization if they were too young to receive it while in our care. As well all dogs and puppies will be microchipped - this cost is also included in our adoption fees. Cats can be Microchipped for an extra fee of $20.00
All of our adopted animals come with 30-days complementary Shelter Care Pet Insurance.
Dog adoption fee is $150.00. Cat adoption fee is $50.00

News
The 5th Annual MLDHS Strut your Mutt is coming up on Sunday, March 25, 2008! Bring your pooches out for fun and games, all to raise money for a great cause! The day's events will be followed by a tour of our new Shelter!
MLDHS is in need of Foster Homes!! Both Full-time & Part-time!
If you are uncertain about adopting a dog and the commitment involved, please consider becoming a weekend foster home! You can take a shelter dog into your home for a weekend to give it the experience of a home environment, lots of attention, and socialization, as well as a much needed break from the shelter! Many great shelter dogs are with us for long periods of time, and while we try to make their stay in the shelter as comfortable as possible, nothing is better than being in a home, even if it's just for a couple of days! If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in doing, please contact MLDHS.
MLDHS had the great opportunity of purchasing a set of Kennels in conjunction with the Town of Meadow Lake. We are now able to take care of more animals than we have been able to in the past. Thank you to the Town for investing in the animals futures! The dogs and cats are enjoying their new safe and clean environment!
Who We Are
The Meadow Lake & District Humane Society was formed in the summer of 2003.
The MLDHS is an animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, unwanted, and abandoned animals. Our other main objective is to spread the spay/neuter message in an effort to prevent overpopulation.
All of our income is derived from memberships, donations, adoption fees, and income from doing pound maintenance for the Town of Meadow Lake.
Memberships can be purchased - please email us for details.
