Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we are only able to respond

Who We Are

The Alternative Humane Society of Whatcom County is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization registered with the State of Washington. We raise money to help people pay to spay and neuter their dogs and cats, we operate a foster home network for dogs, and we educate our community about the humane treatment of animals.

We receive no local, state, or federal financial support—we are supported solely by donations from the public, from businesses, and occasionally from grants. Your support and/or donation will help us continue our work to reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats in our community and find loving guardians for homeless dogs. AHS has no office, no central shelter, and no paid staff.
