Please note that the youngest feline I currently have is approximately eight months old. (Update: 7/5/09 - now have two baby brothers that need to be adopted together. One black & one orange tabby with white. They were wild babies, but seem to be taming nicely. Already neutered & first two sets of kitten shots.) Very unfortunately, unless homes are found for some of my current rescues (over 40 to choose from!!), I will not have ANY room to take in new felines ... including baby kittens ... this year. Please consider something other than a baby. My feline rescues have had services that would normally cost over $300 (minimally!) at a vet already done (read more detail below), and the adoption fee remains EXTREMELY minimal compared to my financial investment in all of them. Feline Felicity is basically one person so can only manage local home visits and adoption approvals. Oh, and please remember -- collars are basically of no use without current rabies vaccination and identification tags! Microchips are highly encouraged as collars and tags can be damaged, lost, or even purposefully removed. Microchipping and following through with providing and activating your personal information and, just as importantly, always keeping any changes up to date are your best insurance for being reunited with a lost pet. One other thing, the no children is because I do not have any children in my household, so the kitties are not used to them. PLEASE read individual stories for the kitties to learn more about their personalities and how well they may adapt. The Petfinder site specifically defines "no kids" as meaning young/small children less than 5 years old./h1>
Hi ... my name is Sorbet (because I did not want to be called {orange} Sherbet). I was trapped in a Lavergne warehouse. Who knows? I may have been born in there. Anyway, a mom cat, and two other kittens were trapped there as well. We could not be taken back there after we went through the TNR program, so Ms Tana took us all home and tried to tame us. After a few months, the mom cat was impossible, so Tana released her at a nice family's barn in the Antioch area.
I am very shy, and some of the other kitties here like to bully & chase me, so I hide quite a bit. I have learned the other kitties habits though, so I know that I can get some one on one love and attention from Ms Tana whenever all the other kitties are napping. I have learned to thoroughly enjoy the petting from her, but still do not like the idea of being picked up at all. I will get right next to her and lean against her, but I will not climb into her lap yet. So, you will have to be really kind and patient with me.
I do like to play with other kitties that are not too aggressive, territorial, or overbearing. I might do well with Felix or Licorice or one of the "3 in a cage" pic. Please give me a chance. I am cute as a (fluffy) button!
Update: March 2009
Okay, I have now been at Ms. Tana's for 4 years and 1 month. Wow! Time flies! I have not been having a lot of fun though. There are just too many kitties here with much more assertive and aggressive behavior than mine. I will never develop into the awesome kitty Ms. Tana knows lies beneath the surface if I remain in this environment. I have NEVER raised a paw or claw to a person or one of these other cats -- NEVER EVER ... even when the other cats start trouble and are ugly to me. I am a petite and polite girl. I like to talk when given half the chance. If I could just be adopted by some people with feline behavior knowledge, I would truly blossom into a forever friend ... for humans and another cat friend ... as long as the other cat was either nice to me or just neutral toward me. Please give me a chance! I am such a special girl ... really, I am!!
At Feline Felicity, established in 1988, all cats and kittens are examined by a veterinarian, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, external and internal parasite free, FVRCP vaccinated appropriately for their age, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out into new homes. Rest assured you will be given a health record for your pet with all services and dates provided. I, Tana Taylor, founder of Feline Felicity, almost NEVER adopt out an unaltered cat because compliance for spaying and neutering is, unfortunately, less than 60%. When one has been in the rescue, animal control, humane association, or veterinary business well over a decade, one becomes painfully aware of the overpopulation problem resulting in too few adoptions and definitely too many euthanasias. As a result, I composed this signature for my personal e-mails: "Each and every birth of a cat or dog adds to the overpopulation problem. For every single kitten or puppy you allow to be born and find a home, know that one is euthanized at a pound or shelter because no one adopted it. For their sake, SPAY and NEUTER YOUR PETS! PLEASE! IT MATTERS!"
Adopting a friend
You may "fall in love" with a kitty and its story and "know" you want it just from what you see and read on here. However, you may call to set up an appointment to meet the feline(s) prior to making a decision on which one(s) to consider for adoption. There is a minimum adoption fee of $75, payable in cash. (Due to previous incidences of checks written on closed accounts, insufficient funds, or stopped payments, Feline Felicity no longer accepts checks.) This fee will continue to provide maintenance (food, litter, etc.) and veterinary care for the other cats and kittens that are being housed at Feline Felicity or have yet to be rescued. You will be required to complete a detailed questionnaire and adoption contract which must be approved by Tana Taylor prior to adopting a pet. Part of this approval process does include a home visit prior to the final step of me personally delivering the feline to you and its new home.
Here at Feline Felicity, these cats are housed strictly indoors, and have only cohabitated with other felines and me, an adult woman in a fairly quiet, consistent, and settled environment. For that reason, I do not think the majority of them would do well with children less than twelve years old, in general, although I am sure there are some exceptions. The cats' only exposure to dogs have been looking at mine either outside, through the windows, or on the porch and patio, through the storm/screen doors. In that regard, some of the cats would more than likely adapt to dogs while others probably would not. Please realize that all cats have individual personalities, and their adjustment time to new people and environments may vary greatly.

I can no longer accept phone calls as no one was wanting to adopt ... only to add more rescues to my already overwhelmed home. I cannot even afford to care for the ones I currently have without donations and, very unfortunately, donations are few and far between.
So, if you are interested in ADOPTING a feline or two, PLEASE e-mail me at feline.felicity@gmail.com!! I will respond as soon as I realize I have received mail from you. If I am out of town or my computer is down, this could take up to 48 hours.
Donations can be made directly through PayPal or may be mailed to Southern Veterinary Center, 111 Mayfield Drive, Smyrna, TN, 37167. (Checks can be made out to SVC. PLEASE INDICATE on your check that it is to be credited to Feline Felicity account # 16689.) I purchase a lot of supplies from Tractor Supply, so a gift card for TSC would be appreciated as well.
