The shelter is located at 2435 State Route 352 in Big Flats.

Who We Are
The Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, Inc. is a private, non-profit humane organization. We are not affiliated with the county or the state. We are funded by donations, bequests, adoption fees, dog control contracts and a humane contract with Chemung County. In fact, more than 70 percent of our operating budget depends entirely on contributions from our community.

Visitors are welcome to come and see the animals during our regular shelter hours:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday
11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
We are closed only during the following holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Adopting a friend
Because of the thousands of unwanted animals born each day, the SPCA requires
that all cats and dogs adopted from the shelter be spayed /neutered within 30
days from the day of adoption, or when the puppy or kitten reaches the appropriate
age. Our adoption fees include a free visit to a cooperating veterinarian if used within five days.
Dogs - $120.00 (includes Spay/Neuter Deposit, Shots and Microchip with qualifying criteria)
Cats-$50.00 (Includes Spay/Neuter Deposit, Shots and Microchip with qualifying criteria)
Cat Carriers - $6.00
In addition, all dogs and puppies are required
by New York State Law to be licensed by owners before leaving the shelter. All
dogs and puppies over 3 months of age must receive a rabies shot .
