12-532 "Mae"! 12-532 "Mae" "Mae" #12-532, Meet Mae a 7 year old female Pit/Shepherd mix. Mae is at the shelter right now looking for a family to love her. She came in as a stray but has proven to be such a sweet, gentle girl that she is now temporarily living in the office and greeting all guests at the shelter. She even gave the UPS guy some kisses so now she gets a treat when he comes to make deliveries. Mae knows sit and down and walks well on a leash, she isn't phased by the around town traffic and sights to see. She loves people, meets them happily and enjoys attention and to be pet. She is good with other well behaved dogs, loves to sniff and greet. She has become such a favorite among the staff we are hoping someone will fall in love with her and take her home and show her what a loving home is like. Mae is spayed, up to date on shots and heartworm negative. Please give this sweet girl a chance at a new life with a loving home. If you are interested, please contact us. Donate Now Mission Statement: To balance the health, public safety, and welfare needs of the people and animals in the Town of Babylon; providing nourishment and a safe environment for stray, impounded, and owner surrendered animals; responsibly enforcing state laws and local ordinances; and finding new loving homes for homeless animals at our shelter. Who We Are The Town of Babylon covers 53 square miles and is serviced by 3 Animal Control Officers who enforce Article 7 of the Agriculture and Markets Law of New York State and the Local Laws and Ordinances of the Town of Babylon. Staff in the office handles complaints from residents and dispatches over 5,000 calls per year to the Animal Control Officers. There are several kennel attendants to care for the 3,600 animals which enter the shelter each year. The attendants also assist the public to adopt and redeem dogs. There is an adoption rate of over 80%. Office staff consists of clerical staff who handle the daily transactions for redemptions and adoptions as well as other office duties. Animals may be surrendered to the animal shelter by the owner only. Euthanasia service is available Mon-Fri providing a technician is available. Please call in the morning so that arrangements can be made for when you come in. You may spend time with your pet immediately before and after the procedure. Proof of residence in the Town of Babylon (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) is required. There is a $65 turn in fee for dogs, $35 for senior citizens. All fees are cash only.
