Please come visit our shelter and find out about all the wonderful donation funds that the Town has established to not only aid the cats, kittens and dogs at our shelter but also the feral cats. Our T-92 account is used for a trap, spay/release program for the feral cats in the Town of Newburgh. This program is run by a great animal group called Matt's Cats. Cats are captured with humane havahart traps, spayed/released to the area where they were found. A caregiver makes sure food is supplied. Monetary donations and dry food is always needed. For more info, call Margaret Weber at 564-1658. Margaret also has cats/kittens for adoption.
Our T-93 account allow us to medically take care of the cats/kittens at the shelter. Some of these poor kitties are sick or injured when we find them. This fund also pays for their spay/neuters, all vaccines, testing for feline leukemia/aids and worming. Donations are always appreciated for this account.
The last donation account that we have is called the T-94 account is used to medically treat our dogs that have special conditions such as being positive for heartworm, a leg that needs to be pinned, etc... This account will, hopefully, someday (with your help) will be used to enlarge the size of our shelter so that we can be a model shelter for the animals in our community. In 2006 the shelter had a new roof and siding put on. During the month of October 2007, the insides of the dog kennels were renovated and in 2008 all the outdoor kennels were renovated and all painted. With volunteer help, the office, cat room and storage areas have all been painted. Thanks to our great volunteers!
The dog always like pig's ears, hoofs, can dog food. Cats always like catnip toys, small treats, kitty litter, kitten formula, and can cat food. Good quality dry dog and cat food is always appreciated.
The shelter is open to the public Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Saturday the shelter is open from 9 am to 4 pm. We are closed Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and holidays. We are, however, in the shelter on Monday and Wednesday for all animal related calls and questions.
