The Toms River Animal Facility is a municipal shelter serving Toms River Township. We are one of only four remaining municipally run shelters in the state of New Jersey. The staff at the facility are responsible for all daily operations including administrative, cleaning/feeding all animals, adoptions, reclaims, owner relinquishments as well as animal control.
Adopting a friend
We are open for adoptions Tuesday & Thursday 11am to 4 pm Wednsdays 1pm-8pm Friday-Sunday 1pm-4pm and closed on Mondays and Holidays. If you are interested in adopting an animal please contact the shelter directly as e-mails may not be answered on a daily basis. Applications are required when adopting a pet. Applications are held for 24-48 hours for screening. If approved, a fee of $40 is required (NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED) and a representative will contact you and make arrangements to finalize the adoption. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY ANY APPLICATIONS FOR ANY REASON. Any animal adopted out that is not already spayed or neutered will be required to be. The owner will be able to participate in the N. J. low cost spay/neuter program. This program entitles each adopter the ability to have their new family member spayed or neutered for $20 at any participating vet. If any animals currently reside in the home proof of spay/neuter will be required along with a current rabies vaccination and a license from your municipality. Every adopted animal is always returnable should there be any problem with the adoption.

Donations
Donations are always welcome at the shelter . Such supplies needed are:
Towels, blankets, sheets, kitty litter, dry & can cat food, dry & can dog food, bleach, laundry & dish soap, office supplies, toys for both dogs and cats, and digital picture frames.
