The City of Westfield does not currently have an animal shelter of its own. The current contract with the Town of Southwick expires on June 30, 2008.

DOG LICENSES
2008 Dog Licenses are available at the City Clerk's Office, 59 Court St. Westfield. Mass. Gen. Law requires that all dogs over 6 months old be licensed April 1ST of each year.Dog licenses are also a great means of identification and can be traced 24 hours a day 7 days a week by either Animal Control or the Police Department.License costs are, $5.00 for Spayed and Neutered dogs, $25.00 if they are not. Please bring proof of current rabies vaccine and proof of neutering or spayingLOST PETS
If you have LOST a Pet PLEASE CALL ANIMAL CONTROL ASAP AT 564-3129 or 246-3814 . Stray dogs will be held for 10 days. If not claimed by their owner in that time, they will be made available for adoption.As per Mass.Gen.Laws, Chapter 140 & Westfield City Ordinance, you must show proof of a current rabies vaccine & also a current City Dog License to claim your dog.
Owners will also be responsible to pay a daily boarding fee OF $10.00 PER DAY PLUS A $25.00 AdMIN. FEE.Dog licenses can be purchased at the City Clerks Office @ 59 Court St. Westfield, MA 9:00 A.M. thru. 4:00 P.M. M-F

ADOPTION FEES
Adoption fees are $70.00 for all dogs and cats. Any dog over the age of 6 months must also receive a rabies vaccine & obtain a dog license for the city or town that it will live in.
