Massachusetts  Humane Society Celebrates 10 Years !!

Bessy's Place Being Part Of The Celebration !!

CONGRATS ! AND HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY - MASSACHUSETTS HUMANE SOCIETY ANIMAL SHELTER, as of JUNE, 2014.  We are proud of the 10 years, since June of 2004, of rescuing, caring and adopting over 2,882 - homeless, abused, neglected and mistreated animals and we dedicated our love and time to each animal for a new beginning! We care for many life long animals that are unadoptable.   Mass Humane Society wants to THANK YOU, as a supporter and donor for making this happen and all the dedicated MHS Animal Care Volunteers.  Mass Humane Society - has lots more work to do for ALL ANIMALS.  We hope that you will continue to join us in that necessary MISSION AND GOAL - FOR ALL THE ANIMALS.  Thank You -- MHS

The Massachusetts Humane Society (MHS), recently announced the “Bessy’s Home For Felines” $200,000 campaign designed to raise funds. Bessy's Place will be a sanctuary within Mass Humane Society's new shelter.    (www.bessysplace.org).

MHS is seeking a 2,000 square-foot house, in the South Shore area - Norfolk County near Boston. Our facility will be a sanctuary and home for cats, many of whom are senior cats with special needs. Recognizing this incredible opportunity for growth, sustainability, added efficiencies and increased financial stability, the cat sanctuary & adoption center is seeking $200,000 in donations (Yes, we know that is huge!). But there are many benefits of owning our own property for all the felines. This goal satisfies a budget for property acquisition, new equipment purchase and renovations.

Our plan is to locate a suitable facility and build a cage-free sanctuary for cats that will feature

  • Communal living environments for the 40-50 cats with plenty of windows to provide natural sunlight and spacious rooms for exercise and play, including a cat solarium for the cats to enjoy fresh air
  • Cat isolation/intake ward
  • Group rooms for cats who are FIV+, overweight, on prescription diets and a quiet area for hospice cats
  • Superior air quality and quality veterinary care
  • An area reserved for a limited number of senior dogs, including indoor and outdoor kennels.

To help us reach our goal please support Mass Humane Society  by donating to our cause.

Adopting A Friend

Hi my name is ** CARL** I am about 2 years old, DSH neutered male and UTD on all my shots and Combo tested negative. Well, here is my story, I was abandon outside -- scared and lonely. I was brought to MHS to find a loving caring home. I am a little unsure at first with people but I don't have a mean bone in my body.       ( if you know cats, then you can do this)  I just need some time to come around and befriend you and bond with you. Once that happens -- well I am ready to be your forever best friend!! I am entertaining, love to play with my cat toys and be brushed!. I will be right their waiting for you when you come home. I do best as the only cat, so if your looking for one special kitty cat. I AM THE ONE FOR YOU!  I love all the attention and some. Come and meet Carl, the pictures do not do him justice. (Please consider Carl - so he can get out of the cage and be your best friend).

Carl is ready for a home!! Adoption fee is $100.00 including Carl’s Vet records.

If your interested in Carl, please email masshumane@aol.com or call 781-335-1300 to make an appointment.

Who We Are

Massachusetts Humane Society turns 10 years old in June of 2014. The lease on our current property will expire in 2016. Between now and then, we are trying to locate a suitable facility for a cage-free shelter for MHS cats.

Bessy’s Place Cat Sanctuary will be a sanctuary within Mass Humane Society’s new shelter. Bessy’s Place mission is to create a peaceful, comfortable environment where we can give these cats the medical attention they require while allowing them to live out their lives with love, comfort and dignity they deserve.

Please contact MHS by email - masshumane@aol.com or by phone - 781-335-1300.

Come Visit Us

Please join us in our *NEW Shelter Search* for Massachusetts Humane Society, Inc., animal shelter. If you are an advocate for animals and willing to help out homeless, neglected, mistreated animals, MHS would love to hear from you. Our lease will expire in June of 2016. We must now take serious our mission in locating and finding a new shelter location. Mass Humane Society is looking for a more economical outcome and resources, for our shelter and to continue to help and care for homeless animals.

MHS is looking for about 1,500 to 1,900 Square Feet with parking, possibly a stand alone building or a shared building or a roomy area. Could be a house, commercial building or other; something that would fit our needs for the homeless animals and the public. We are willing to pay rent for the lease of the building ranging from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 monthly (willing to compromise and discuss further on leasing.) In this new world of animal shelters, we are looking for a more economical place, based on utilities, heating and insurance coverage. Better quality of air and possibly more rooms and windows.

Please contact Mass Humane Society, so we may discuss further about our important future. Again, we are willing to discuss all options with you -- so we may continue our work for so many animals in NEED !  MHS will make it work at the new shelter location.

Mass Humane Society has a very good track record in rescuing, caring and finding good homes for animals. Our over head operational costs is in excellent standards, the environment is clean and healthy for the animals and people, all animals are vetted and spayed and neutered accordingly.

Mass Humane Society's 10th Anniversary was in June of 2014. We are very proud of our accomplishments, missions and goals for the homeless animals. We truly want to continue our tireless and caring work for all of the homeless animals out there.

Please contact Joanne at 781-335-1300 leave a voice message will get back to you within 24 hours, or email directly: masshumane@aol.com.
