We can't do it without you!

CPR Fund is desperately seeking Foster Homes in the Lake/Porter County, IN area to house foster dogs until they are adopted into loving homes. CPR Fund will provide all the food, supplies and guidance needed, but we need YOU to provide a safe, loving environment while these pets wait for adoption. You will be asked to accept the responsibility of transporting your foster to vet appointments in Cedar Lake or Lowell and also, to either attend Adoption Days with your foster or deliver your foster to another willing volunteer on Adoption Days. You can be as involved in the adoption process as you wish, from screening potential adoptive parents to participating in CPR activities!

Send in a Foster Application today. A CPR volunteer will contact you to answer any and all of your questions or click here for more online information.

Rescue News

Please help us to help them! Only through donations from animal lovers can the CPR Fund seek out and save abandoned pets. These pets ask for nothing more than a home and someone to love them. Please find it in your heart ... send in a donation. We are a non-profit organization and every dollar helps! We are asking for donations of any amount to help offset the cost of caring for these unwanted pets. If you can spare even a few dollars, please help these guys!
Your support is greatly appreciated! The CPR Fund's adoptable animals are ALWAYS available by appointment OR can be viewed at various "Adoption Day Events". These dates are published on our website www.cprfund.com. Please send an email ahead of time if you are interested in a PARTICULAR pet. Due to limited resources, we can't always bring every pet every time.

Who We Are

The Child and Pet Relief Fund is a non-profit organization founded by Northwest Indiana EMT's and Paramedics. We are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the voiceless members of our community. Through fund raising events, educational programs, and community service projects, we intend to provide support to public service organizations in Northwest Indiana. Animal Control shelters, schools, and child welfare agencies are just a few of the programs we will be supporting. As our first order of business, we are working to improve the quality of life for the homeless dogs, cats, and wildlife in our community. Unfortunately, most municipal Animal Control departments are grossly under-funded and under-staffed. In general, each town has one officer to catch and care for all the animals. Most officers work seven days a week to feed the animals, clean kennels, provide transportation to and from veterinary appointments, and maintain records. Also, most animal control facilities are housed in out-dated, run down buildings. The dog kennels are usually small and lack outdoor access. In order for a dog to get some fresh air, he or she must be put on a leash and taken for a walk. With all their other responsibilities, it is often difficult for the officers to find the time to provide the dogs with adequate exercise. Some facilities are not air conditioned or even lack hot water. Most Animal Control Officers attempt to adopt out as many animals as possible but do not have the staffing or the resources to run a successful adoption program. And sadly, most Humane Societies and foster programs are already over-crowded and can not accept any animals from Animal Control. Our goal is to provide a no-kill sanctuary for the dogs, cats, and wildlife due to be euthanized only because there is nowhere to place them. Only adoptable animals will be accepted. Once under the care of the CPR Fund, volunteers will work tirelessly to find these animals their forever families.

Adopting a friend

To offset rescue costs, there is a $150 adoption fee for dogs under 6 months of age and $125 for dogs 6 months to 6 years old. Dogs 6 years and older are $100. This fee includes a vet check, all required vaccines, blood work, medication, flea control and/or prevention, spay/neuter, microchip, and any other needed medical care as appropriate for the pet's age.

Any pet adopted from CPR Fund MUST be spayed or neutered before leaving the care of its CPR Foster Parent.

Any pet adopted from The CPR Fund MUST be kept up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations and preventatives for the rest of their lives.

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS to the above requirements.

NOTE: If written proof of neuter/spay is not provided and/or age appropriate vaccinations and preventatives are not kept up to date, the CPR Fund has the legal right to remove the pet from your possession without reimbursement of your adoption fee.

If you are interested in adopting a CPR Fund pet, please review our Adoption Agreement and Application first. These guidelines were implemented through the process of trial and error. Although we have always done our best to ensure ALL our pets were being adopted out to responsible homes, we have made some mistakes. This Agreement is the culmination of everything we've learned during the time we've been taking in unwanted animals.

Please remember, adopting a pet is a serious commitment. All policies and procedures implemented by The CPR Fund are in place to ensure all pets placed in a new home will be loved for life.

If you need to find a new home for a family friend please e-mail a brief description of the pet (breed, age, size, vaccination history, behavior, etc) to The CPR Fund. We will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange to meet the pet and try to help placing him/her.

Please remember that we are an ALL VOLUNTEER rescue. There is no "shelter" to visit with regular Monday through Friday hours. When you contact The CPR Fund, your correspondence is forwarded to the appropriate person, whether it be a foster home, volunteer coordinator, etc. Please be patient. Your questions, concerns, and comments are valued and will be answered as soon as possible.

Contact Us

Due to the irresponsibilty of other pet "owners" who dump dogs off at all hours of the night, sometimes in horrible condition, we can no longer publish our address. If you need help placing a family friend PLEASE call or e-mail us. If you are interested in one of our pets, you're invited to please contact us however is most convenient.
