This Beautiful Girl is Lucille. She is very unique. She is looking for a special home as Lucille is Deaf. Despite her handicap, she is a very loving gentle girl. She loves the company of other animals and the attention of her caretakers. She is currenlty attending sessions with the Macon Kennel Club to learn hand signals. Perry Animal Shelter vs Perry Animal Control
To help you better understand:
The Perry Animal Control is run by the City of Perry. Animals that are strays, part of cruelty/neglect, or abandoned are placed at the shelter for a minimum of 7 working days. This gives any potential owner time to reclaim their animal. We do not take in personal pets!!!!!Once animals in the animal control facility have past thier 7 day hold, they are evaluted. We want to be totally familar with the behavior of each and every animal before they go to a new home. Once they have passed the evalution, each animal is fully vetted up to thier age including shots, deworming, microchip, and sterilization. They are then put up for adoption at the shelter. They are posted on the internet and taken to Petmsart on Saturday for our routine adoption days.
The volunteers and foster homes of the Perry Animal Shelter strive to help ALL animals in need...not just ones from the animal control facility. When foster homes are avaible, we try and help other animal control facilities when they are full or having a hard time placing animals. Its kinda a second chance for them to be adopted out. The Perry Animal Shelter also provides an "Adoption Assistance" programs for those people who need to place their personal animals in another home or for those people that have found stray animals and do not want them placed in an animal control facility. With adoption asistance, You are allowed to bring the animal/animals to our adoption days on Saturday. ( We require that each animal be vetted up to its age- shots and deworming must be current) You would leave the animal at Petmsart from 10-4pm. If the animal gets adopted...GREAT!!! if not...you have to come back and get it until the next adoption day.....you are serving as a temporary foster home.

When adopting from the animal shelter, we provide routine shots and deworming up to the age of adoption, rabies vaccination, microchip, and spay/nueter. Our adoption fee ranges from $150-300 for dogs and $90 for cats. Some people have questioned these costs, so I would like to clarify them alittle. These fees cover the cost of the vet bill and in turn brings money into the animal shelter that helps with animal heartworm treatments, surgeries, and any other extreme medical needs our adoptable animals may have. Also, take in to consideration that when you adopt from ANY rescue of shelter in the state of Georgia that you are required by law to have your animal spayed/nuetered and have a rabies vaccination. Routine sterilizations at any veterinary office starts out at $100 and that is only for the surgery, not the shots,vaccinations, etc. so if you were to compare the cost of a all the medical essentials from the animal shelter and those from a veterinarians office, you would see that adopting is a REALLY good deal because you are actully SAVING money on future vet bills.

All mugs are $6.00 and all magnets are $5.00 each. Shipping is FREE anywhere in the US. All monies raised help pay for food, toys, blankets, vet care, and any other items that benefit the animals. We also have cat and dog breed specific car ribbon magnets( avaible upon request- email perryanimalshelter@yahoo.com to inquire about a specific breed). We always can use old newspapers, blankets, towels, food dishes, dog pens, dog houses, cages of any kind, dog gates for our foster homes, food, treats, toys, collars and leashes, brushes, and of course, we need funds to vet these beautiful animals so they can find forever homes. Small items can be dropped off at the Perry Police Dept on Washington St. Large donations will need to be arranged with Hanna at 478-988-2888. Pick up will be available.
