Our Featured Pet...

Marley is the cat that ate the cow. He's probably the biggest cat I've ever seen not in a zoo, and it's pure muscle. He is three years old and had a home, but he was pretty much just provided with food and attention. He was never neutered and lived mostly outdoors. That is never a good mix. His right eye is a little droopy from an old injury that was never tended to. Miraculously, he raised himself to be an awesome boy! He's healthy, has perfect litter box manners, and is so laid back that he relaxes you. (As big as Marley is, he still has two fears...trucks and dogs. He had a very traumatic experience which we can tell you more about if you are interested in him.)

Roz is approximately 5 years old. She's big, beautiful, and starved for attention. She's also miserable living in a shelter. She's very much a lady and desperately wants her privacy and space. She has no place to call her own at the shelter because everywhere she looks is another cat. She loves to sit in your lap and has even crawled up onto my chest when I lay down on the floor. You don't have to do anything to make her happy except be there with her. You have to be okay with the fact that she has claws since she's already 5 years old. Roz will worship the person who gets her out of here and keeps her company.

News

Updated October 28th, 2007

I think the most exciting thing that's happened to us this year is not cat related. That's why it's so exciting! We are the proud new owners of an office! With no cats! We are renting the small space right next door to our shelter. We have a computer, printer, file cabinets, etc...and can actually do important paper work. Imagine trying to do these things in the middle of 75+ cats for years and you'll see why this is so big. We are probably the most organized we've ever been. When you are in the homey, yet proffessional office, you would never suspect that just a wall away exists the wilderness of "Cat Kingdom"!

ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE STRANGE PEOPLE WHO FINDS CLEANING RELAXING? Well, everyone knows that cats are relaxing. Imagine what a combination of the two could do for you! We are much cheaper than therapy too! In other words, we are in huge need of volunteers to help out in the mornings between 9:00 and 12:00 or so. The cats throw nightly parties after we turn out the lights and we need help erasing all evidence of this in the morning...so that guests can come in and like what they see and smell...so they can adopt...and so the cats have a clean fresh start for their next night's big bash! Please help the vicious cycle continue! Thanks!

Who We Are

Feline Friends is a 100% volunteer, non-profit, 501c3 organization. Our purpose is to uphold and strengthen our portion of the "safety net." This net is the No Kill-No More Homeless Pets movement that is slowly but surely spreading across our nation. We strive to put an end to the killing of adoptable healthy cats in our area by facilitating sterilization, increasing education, and organizing adoptions.

We are funded entirely by private donations and small grants. If you would like to help us continue our work, please remember us throughout the year with your 100% tax deductible donations. Also please include us in your trusts and bequests.

Adopting a friend

To adopt, you must be over the age of 25. Also is you live in an apartment, we require proof that your pet deposit has been paid. Adoptions are done seven days a week out of our adoption center/shelter. Our facility is everything a cat shelter should be. It is clean, tranquil, and fun. We truly believe that we are better at what we do than anyone else in our area. The evidence of this can be clearly seen in the eyes of every one of our cats. They're happy! We invite you to come see for yourself. If you live locally, please call to arrange a visit. If you are from out of town but planning a vacation to South Florida, please put us on your list of must-see sights.

All adopters are carefully screened, and there is a legal contract to be filled out. In most situations the adoption fee is $85 for adults and $125 for kittens. Each cat/kitten will have received at least one full set of vaccinations including boosters. They will have been wormed, treated for other parasites with either Advantage or Revolution, FIV/Leukemia tested, and been nuetered.

100% of the adoption fee money we receive goes right back into funding the daily operational expenses of running our shelter and helps us to continue rescuing more local kitties. Thank you for your support!

Come Visit Us!

If you are arriving from I95, take the Hillsboro Blvd. exit and go east to N.E. 2nd Ave. (It's the first street after Dixie Hwy.) Go north, (left). You will immediately see the New City Hall and we are directly across the street. Since we are all volunteers, please call first to make sure we're around.
