Happy Endings

Our Featured Bullydog ... Chickie Sue

Yes, Chickie Sue's ears are chopped into funny little wings, which admittedly, has hurt her chances of getting a quick home Sad but true. But we know her forever home won't care about that. She's a fantastic breed ambassador, spirited, well mannered and delightful. Beautifully trained, social and eager to do the right thing. She loves brawny boys and is respectful of those that would rather not play her tomboy games. She likes using her paws and will make a toy out of anything. She's soft enough that she doesn't like to get into trouble and sturdy enought to stay cheerful and optimistic during her wait. No cats though for this bouncy girl.

Who We Are

BAD RAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit bulls) is a 501c3 rescue/education group working to make things better for the breed in the SF bay area. We're all crazy about these dogs and volunteer many hours each week to the cause. As part of our rescue mission, we regularly search the local shelters for death-row pit bulls that have 'Super Star' appeal, and as we have foster home openings, place newly rescued dogs into home settings with pit bull experienced volunteers.
While our dogs wait to be adopted, they receive love, vet care, lots of socializing opps, basic obedience training and general coaching in house manners. All are house trained, crate trained, neutered, vetted and given all shots.
As part of our education mission, we work to help adopters understand the realities of pit bull ownership, including the joys and the challenges that the breed presents. We offer ongoing support to ensure that each adoption is a happy experience for everybody. Adopters can enjoy free training and an opportunity to join us in fun events such as parades, informal gatherings and educational outreach events.

Adopting a Friend

We'll work with you to find a dog that is right for your situation. To help us learn about your set-up, we'll ask you to fill out an application, we'll chat on the phone, then will set up appointments to meet one or more of our dogs. If you find a dog that feels like a good match, one of our pit bull loving volunteers will come out and do a home check. These are designed to help you make sure that your home is safe and secure for your new pit bull. Applicants have the option of taking dogs home on a trial basis. Adopters sign an Adoption Contract and pay a $100 fee.

Can I Visit BAD RAP?

We don't have a shelter; we work out of our homes. But we can arrange for you to meet some of our dogs. Many attend our weekly training sessions (Saturday mornings in Berkeley). If you'd like to see one or more of our dogs, let us know and we'll help set up a meet-n-greet. Questions? We're quick with email. Contact BAD RAP via Email
