Petfinder Classifieds
The Petfinder.com Classifieds are for Lost Pets, Found Pets, Pets Wanted and Adoptable Pets. Please note that all postings for "Adoptable Pets" will be reviewed before appearing on the website. All postings for "Pets Wanted" are ONLY viewable by Petfinder.com Member Organizations. Lost ads will run for 180 days and all other ads will run for 14 days. The day prior to expiration for the ad, you will be notified by email giving you the opportunity to extend your ad. If you choose not to extend, your ad will expire automatically on the 14th or 180th day. Please make a note of your password as you will need it if you wish to remove or extend your ad before the expiration period is over.
Posts for Adoptable pets are available for people who have taken in a stray and wish to find it a home and for people who wish to place their own pets in new homes. Please review the following guidelines before placing your classified ad:
The classifieds are NOT available to shelters or rescue organizations. Animal shelters and placement groups are welcome to apply for a free Petfinder.com site where pets can be posted with photos in the searchable database. An organization does not need to be 501(c)3 or have a facility to join. Shelters and rescue organizations can register online.
Because Petfinder.com was created with the goal of finding a home for every adoptable pet, no ads encouraging or supporting the breeding of animals are permitted in the classifieds.
For the safety of the animals, "free to good home" ads will not be posted. Adoption fees should be set at a reasonable amount meant to discourage unethical people from collecting animals. Fees should not be based on an animal's registration status, breed, or local desirability. Ads that appear to be selling animals for profit or seem excessive will not be posted on the site.
- You must register on Petfinder.com to post a classified ad.
- Pictures are now permitted in the classifieds.
- Ads posted by children are not permitted.
- Ads selling or soliciting merchandise are not permitted.
- Ads of personal or political opinion are not permitted.
Ads which are offensive or not in line with the mission and intent of the Petfinder.com site will not be approved for posting. Posters should receive an e-mail within 48 hours explaining why an ad was not approved. Repeat offenders of inappropriate ads will be blocked from posting anything and their ISP will be contacted.
