Meet Tater Tot
Meet Tater Tot!
Tater Tot is an elderly gentleman-pig who was surrendered to us in May 2022 when he was about 5 years old. He is an extremely sweet guinea pig who adores his food, his bed, treats, and cuddles.
He is currently a single guinea pig who is looking for a match. For those who may now know, guinea pigs are highly social herd animals and not having a piggy-friend is highly detrimental to them. As much as we love them, and as dedicated as we may be as owners, we as humans can never be an adequate substitute for another of their own kind.
Tater Tot has not had any luck yet finding a piggy-BFF, likely because he has never been bonded before at any point. As a result he does not have the best piggy social skills. But we'll keep trying!
Small Pet Safe House does not adopt out single guinea pigs. The single pigs we have are available to adopt if the adopter has a single pig currently and the pigs are able to successfully bond.
This sweet boy is small for a piggy. He's put on a few ounces since we got him but he's quite light at 0.8 pounds. He will need his weight, food intake, and vitamin c intake continually monitored. We supplement his vitamin c due to being a picky eater and we also give Critical Care regularly. For these reasons, along with his age, Tater Tot is listed as special needs and will need an adopter who is experienced with guinea pigs.
