Meet Spencer and Reggie
Hi, our names are Spencer and Reggie! Here is what would work best for us in our new home:
-Personality: Timid, Curious, Active
-Can live with kids: Yes, I can be handled by gentle, respectful children ages 8+. Adults should be my primary caretaker.
-Experienced rat home: Not mandatory, but please do you research first.
-Can live with other rats: Yes! I am required to go home with my companion, Spencer. Rats are highly social and can generally adapt to colony living under the guidance of an experienced adopter. This process needs to be slow and structured to avoid conflict and should not be attempted without education on introductions. If considering adding these boys to your existing colony, please remember they should only live with other males or with spayed female rats.
-Litter box trained: Nope, but rats can be trained to use litter pans.
-Bite History: Unknown - no attempts at biting have occurred here at WHS.
-Additional information: Reggie and Spencer are adult male rats who came to WHS because they were "too much responsibility". They will grow more social and confident with daily handling and familiarity with a person. These two will need a nice roomy (minimum 2 cubic feet of space per rat) cage (NOT a tank) with multiple levels and lots of enrichment. Their diet should consist of high quality pellet food (like Oxbow essentials) and a small amount of species appropriate fruit/veggies daily. If you are interested in adopting Reggie and Spencer, please submit an application to begin the process.
