Precious Rat Rat Saint Paul, MN

Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food), Sweet, Enjoys being held and pet in a snuggle sack

Favorite treats: Papaya, sesame seeds

Favorite toys and activities: Climbing the side of the cage, climbing ladder and lava ledges

Potty trained: We're working on it!

This animal daily routine: Usually comes out for fun time with her sister Darling between 12-2, but she gets out during the evenings on my nights off. Otherwise, no specific routine

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Precious is bonded with Darling.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: dogs - Precious lets them approach her and sniff her. We make sure they are always calm when near Precious.!

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Once, for a short time, with her foster’s 7 year old nephew. He was too nervous to hold her, but she seemed ok.

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Precious does a funny lip smacking thing that just seems to be a personal quirk.

Other Notes: Precious is the younger, slightly more reserved girl, and will definitely take more time to warm up to a new caretaker/pet parent/adopter. She's typically the more active of the 2 girls, climbing all over the side of the cage, up and down the wooden ladder, lava ledges, and in and out of hammocks. She loves fruit and yogurt treats the most!

They definitely love having each other, and Precious is certainly braver with humans handling her when her adopted sister Darling is around. They run all over our computer desk, eat treats, and take naps together while foster mom works and plays on the computer. Neither one care too much for the play pen, but they do like their play tunnel that they get to play in, and if left to run free in the room, they will run all over everywhere and check everything out!

Darling came to MNPPR when her owner was unable to continue care. Precious came to MNPPR when her owner was unable to provide a cage mate for her.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Precious’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Chuck & Don's Pet Food & Supplies - 893 Village Center Dr, North Oaks, MN 55127 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Darling & Precious have a combined adoption fee of $25

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.
