Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Inquisitive, Chatty, Playful, Energetic, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food)

Favorite treats: Rice Puffs and Rosehips

Favorite toys and activities: He loves running in the wheel and burrowing in the hay.

Potty trained: No

This animal daily routine: He gets his daily portion of pellets split between morning and evening. Around 8 PM he has out-of-cage time with dust bath and tunnels

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Nelson & Chai are in our trust training program for their shyness. Right now his foster is working on making slow movements and using quiet voices as well as never picking him up unless he approaches. Other notes: He is the dominant, bigger brother. While Chai is the shy guy, Nelson will always let you know when he needs something! He is very curious and is always trying to find new escape routes.

Nelson & Chai were born in rescue after their parents were transferred from a hoarding case in South Dakota to MNPPR.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN.
