Meet Ned

Hi, my name is Ned! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Shy but tolerant of handling, sleepy, quiet
-Can Live With Kids: Yes, but an adult must be my primary caregiver
-Experienced Hamster Home: Ned is a bit undersocialized and would benefit from an experienced adopter, though this is not mandatory. Do your research, please!
-Can Live With Other Hamsters?: No - hamsters need to be housed separately
-Bite History: No
-Additional Information: Ned is a sweet little guy looking for his forever home. His hobbies include napping in his little hidey house and eating lots of snacks. Ned is a somewhat avoidant of handling, but is tolerant and has not bitten anyone while here at the shelter. He would love a family that will take him out of his cage daily for exercise and love! Ned will need a clean roomy cage with lots of fun toys and enrichment! Syrian hamsters are large (for hamsters) and many enclosures available at pet stores are not appropriately sized for them. Ideal enclosures aim for a minimum of 24 inches by 12 inches, and at least 12 inches tall, with several inches of bedding for burrowing - a VITAL activity for hamsters. If kept in an aquarium style enclosure, 40 gal minimum is ideal. Bigger is always better! Ask staff for more details if you need help with picking out an appropriate enclosure.
