Meet Ms. Frizzle
Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.
Estimated birth date: 9/14/2016
Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Friendly toward humans, Cuddly, Sweet
Favorite treats: Dried mealworms and crickets
Favorite toys and activities: She loves running on her wheel and burrowing under things. She loves exploring during floor time when she’s awake at night too!
Potty trained: She’s SUPER close to being litter box trained, not quite 100% but very close.
This animal daily routine: Not as much, she is nocturnal so she sleeps all day and wakes up around 9pm to play
BFF: No, this animal prefers to live alone.
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dog, fearful
Health concerns: Ms. Frizzle was previously diagnosed with what was believed to be a cancerous uterine mass. After a recent ultrasound exam, we got the amazing news that she was misdiagnosed! It is believed that the "mass" was actually fluid around the uterus due to a hormonal change.
Behavioral concerns: Ms. Frizzle is in our trust training program for typical hedgehog shyness. Visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training to learn more about our trust training methods. During the day she likes to sleep in her foster’s sweatshirt or her fleece pouches and hang out. This gets her used to sounds and movements. In the evening she loves floor time and exploring which helps her gain confidence!
Other notes: Ms. Frizzle is very cute, but she has the common hedgehog shyness and will need a patient hand to give her some TLC. She sleeps all day and would love a night owl to live with!
Ms. Frizzle found her way to MNPPR due to family allergies and aggressive/stalking behavior towards Ms. Frizzle from the family cat making her previous home not the best fit for her.
Due to our rescue being foster based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Ms. Frizzle’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Roseville PetSmart - 2480 Fairview Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113 or Blaine PetSmart - 10451 Baltimore St NE, Blaine, MN 55449 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
