Meet Metta, Mushroom, and Teacup

Hi, our names are Metta, Mushroom, and Teacup! Here is what would work best for us in our new home:

-Personality: Curious, Active, Friendly. We will become mellower with age!
-Can live with kids: Yes, we can be handled by gentle, respectful children ages 10+. Adults should be our primary caretaker.
-Experienced rat home: Rat experience preferred, but not mandatory if adopter is able to demonstrate knowledge. Do your research!
-Can live with other rats: Yes! We are required to go home with each other. Rats are highly social and can generally adapt to living with an existing colony under the guidance of an experienced adopter. This process needs to be slow and structured to avoid conflict and should not be attempted without education on introductions. If considering adding these boys to your existing colony, please remember they should only live with other males or with spayed female rats.
-Litter box trained: Nope, but rats can be trained to use litter pans.
-Bite History: No - though we may curiously nip fingers to see if they are food. To discourage this, DO NOT feed us through the bars.
-Additional information: Metta and his littermates were born in foster care when their very pregnant mom was surrendered to WHS. Recently, they have returned to us due to their original adopter having allergy issues. They have been handled daily since birth. They are curious and will grow more social and confident with daily handling and familiarity with a person. These boys come with a nice roomy cage with multiple levels and lots of enrichment - the perfect starter setup for a new rat adopter. Their diet should consist of free access to a high quality pellet food (like Oxbow essentials) and a small amount of species appropriate fruit/veggies daily. If you are interested in adopting this trio of sweet rats, please submit an application to begin the process.
