Favorite toys and activities: Running in the wheel, chomping on the lava ledge, being playful during out of cage time

Potty trained: No

This animal daily routine: Jess is pretty laid back about her schedule, but likes to have her play time in the late afternoon. She does a great job of being quiet when the lights are off at night. She and Cece love to cuddle for most of the day when they aren't playing, they often nap with their heads together.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Jess is bonded to Cece.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Yes. Jess is ok with the foster family's 10 and 8 year old. When it's play time, she will sometimes climb on them, but still doesn't like them to pick her up. She knows the 10 year old likes to help her clean the cage and trusts that the kid is helping, so isn't scared or aggressive at all.

Health concerns: None

Other notes: Jess has come a long way since the foster family first had her. She went from squawking and spraying whenever they tried to pick her up, to now being more open to human interaction. Picking her up is still something that frightens her. She shies away from pets, but will be happy to take a treat from your hand.

Jess & Cece made their way to MNPPR as a transfer from another rescue who was unable to provide proper care for chinchillas.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Jess’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Richfield PetSmart - 1100 W 78th St, Richfield, MN 55423 or Chuck & Don's Pet Food & Supplies 8537 Lyndale Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55420 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Jess & Cece have a combined adoption fee of $110

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.
