Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Energetic, Nervous, Sweet, Will take treats out of your hand and let you pet occasionally when he is feeling calm or relaxed, he has also ran up his fosters arm and onto her shoulder, he can be scooped up and moved gently but does not like to remain in your hands, very sweet and curious to see his foster or explore new environments

Favorite treats: sunflower seeds.

Favorite toys and activities: Huey loves running really fast on his wheel and jumping and hiding, he loves exploring and running around in his maze and he will get right to work making new tunnels when his cage gets cleaned.

Potty trained: No

This animal’s daily routine: Huey is used to seeing his foster in the mornings and evenings and has outside cage time in the afternoons/early evenings. Typically he will run around in his maze and/or spend time talking and bonding and trust training with his foster.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Yes, Norbert & Huey are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: There are birds in the room and they have 'met' the cats and dogs through the bin wall, Huey seemed curious to see the other species and check them out, he would be interested and then run away, I don't think he felt intimidated or frightened

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Huey is currently in our trust training program - His foster always talks softly with him, calling him by name, using treats to prompt him to come to her, she avoid picking him up or grabbing him for any reason, we use "transportation station" to get around, this is a critter trail cubby piece that she will prompt him to jump into and then move him from place to place, this is also how she gets his weight because he won't sit still and does not like to be held. She has been able to scoop him up with both hands and move him short distances and then he will jump down. He continues to be curious about her and wants to approach her.

Other notes: Huey is a very sweet little guy and has a cute little personality, he is fun to watch and he loves to explore and interact with new environments.

Norbert & Huey came to MNPPR after being abandoned at a pet store who was unable to provide care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Huey’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart - 11200 Fountains Dr, Maple Grove, MN 55369 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
