Horizon Guinea Pig Guinea Pig Saint Paul, MN

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Lazy, Chatty, Enjoys being held, Sweet

Favorite treats: Oxbow simple rewards timothy treats, bell peppers, carrots, kale, bok choy

Favorite toys and activities: Running donuts around his igloo, snacking on hay, greeting people. Box filled with hay to burrow in, igloo, wood chew sticks. Sleeping in cozy beds, chewing on toilet paper rolls, eating veggies!

Potty trained: We’re working on it!

This animal daily routine: Horizon gets fresh hay and pellets in the morning, usually along with a quick spot clean. He spends most of the day with his brother in his cage while his foster parents are working. In the evening he is let out of his cage to free roam and explore. After dinner Horizon and his brother get a large pile of fresh vegetables, in two separate piles because sometimes Horizon steals veggies from his brother. He also gets fresh hay and a thorough spot clean at this time. All fleece and beds are washed every 2-3 days.

BFF: Horizon’s BFF is Sky!

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Horizon absolutely adores the large dog living with him! Whenever the dog visits Horizon stands on his hind legs to sniff the dog through the cage, often wheeking in happiness.

Other notes: Horizon is always very happy whenever someone walks into his room. He'll happily talk to them until they say hello to him and give him a treat. He has no problem walking up to you and hanging out with you, and doesn't mind hands in his space, but is a little skittish about being pet. Horizon sometimes throws a little bit of a fit when you go to pick him up, but once you’re holding him he relaxes and is happy to sit with you. We are working on teaching him that being pet is a good thing and means he can get extra cuddles!

Horizon & Sky found their way to MNPPR after their previous owner felt they were not receiving the proper attention required.

Due to our rescue being foster based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Horizon’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Eagan PetSmart - 1297 Promenade Pl, Eagan, MN 55121 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
